iMessage is now easier than ever, with QR codes and live progress in History

Sending bulk iMessages with Bulk Texter Pro just got a lot easier. There's no more file to move between devices, and you can now watch your texts go out in History.

Scan a QR code, or paste a secret code​

Until now, sending through iMessage meant downloading a text batch file, then getting that file onto the device running our Apple Shortcut. It worked, but it was the clunkiest part of the whole process.

Now, when you generate your texts, Bulk Texter Pro shows you a QR code and a secret code:

  • On an iPhone or iPad, open the Camera app, point it at the QR code on your computer screen, and the Shortcut takes it from there.
  • On a Mac, run the Shortcut and paste the secret code. There's no QR code to point a camera at, and no file to hunt for.

The Shortcut downloads your batch, decrypts it, and starts sending. If it gets interrupted, it picks up where it left off. Scanning the same code again won't send anything twice.

Closed the window by accident? Open the batch in History and click Show QR code.

Your texts stay private​

To get your batch from your computer to your phone, an encrypted copy has to pass through our server. Here's how we keep it private:

  • Your texts and phone numbers are encrypted on your own device before they're uploaded.
  • The encryption key lives only in your QR code / secret code. Our server never has it, so we can never read your batch.
  • The encrypted copy is automatically deleted within 48 hours.

Because the secret code unlocks your batch, don't share it with anyone.

Live progress in History​

The other big change is that iMessage batches now show up in History with real sending progress. As the Shortcut sends each text, it reports that back to Bulk Texter Pro. Open a batch in History and you'll see texts move from pending to sent, and once everything has gone out, the batch is marked Complete.

Until now, iMessage was the one platform where History couldn't tell you what had actually been sent. Now you can see it, and the record sticks around alongside all your other batches.

A couple of details:

  • While a batch is open in History, its status refreshes about every 30 seconds. Otherwise it catches up when you open Bulk Texter Pro.
  • Sent-status reports contain only a batch ID, which text in the batch it was, and when it was sent. They never include your message content or phone numbers. Read the details in our Privacy Policy.

Update your Shortcut​

This required an update to our Apple Shortcut, so if you already have it installed, you'll need the latest version. See our Shortcut update guide for how. If you scan a QR code and see an error saying the shortcut "Bulk Texter Pro" couldn't be found, that's the sign you need to update.
