Bulk Texter Pro now supports Microsoft Teams

Bulk Texter Pro v3.6.2 is out today, and it adds a new texting platform: Microsoft Teams.

If your organization runs calling and texting through Microsoft Teams Phone, you can now send personalized bulk texts from your existing Teams number — the same mail merge you'd get from Google Voice, Dialpad, or Zoom Phone.

Why this matters if you're on Microsoft Teams​

Teams Phone can send and receive SMS one conversation at a time, but there's no bulk or mail-merge option built in. Texting thirty people means typing the same message thirty times, one thread at a time.

Bulk Texter Pro fills that gap. Write your message once with fields like {FirstName} in it, upload a spreadsheet, and each recipient gets their own personalized text — sent from the Teams number you already use. There's no API to configure and no extra admin access needed beyond what Microsoft already requires to enable SMS on your number in the first place.

What you need first​

Microsoft Teams SMS has its own prerequisites, and Bulk Texter Pro can't work around them:

  • An active Teams Phone calling plan in the US or Canada, with a valid, SMS-enabled number. Your Teams administrator has to turn this on — see Microsoft's SMS in Teams documentation for details.
  • "Chat" pinned in your Microsoft Teams sidebar. Bulk Texter Pro needs the Chat panel visible in order to find and send your messages, so pin it before you start.

Once that's set up, sign into Bulk Texter Pro and select "Microsoft Teams" as your texting platform.

Two limitations worth knowing about​

Both of these come from Microsoft, not from us:

  • No group texts. Microsoft Teams only supports one-on-one SMS conversations, so every recipient gets their own private conversation — there's no way to include more than one recipient in a thread.
  • No photos. Microsoft Teams doesn't support MMS or photo attachments on SMS at all.
